How my inspiring wife helped me rise up and win 14.6 Million XAF

I’m Raoul, a taxi driver in Yaoundé. I bet 24 XAF on 20 legs and won 7,303,369.94 XAF. My winnings were doubled to 14,606,763.88 XAF by a 100% betPawa Win Bonus. This is my story…

Being self-employed, autonomous, not having to answer “yes sir” to anyone. You know, just sustainably doing my own thing and doing well at it. That has been the BIGGEST challenge I’ve wanted to surmount for several years now.

What have I done up to now to combat that challenge? A better question would be: what haven’t I done? Trust me, I’ve been through a lot and have done just about everything in the syllabus in a bid to raise enough funds to buy myself a taxi. Sadly, all these attempts couldn’t catapult my plans to fruition and I kept finding myself restarting from scratch.

Often, I would break down and tell my wife to pack up, so we return to the village and start all over there, but she encourages me to be strong and rise up no matter how many times we fall. She’d say what’s important is not how we fell but what made us fall. Learn our lessons, lick our wounds, keep going.

I’m not the kind to idolise people. However, I can humbly and yet so proudly tell you my wife has been and continues to be an inspiration to me. My one true support system. Amidst all our trials and tribulations, she has drilled through my head and all 600g of my heart the strength that lies within the lines of resilience and dedication.

There is this saying she recounts to me and I use it as a mantra when the going gets tough. It’s inspired by Martin Luther King and is something like: “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl but, whatever you do, you have to keep moving.”

In my life, I have never had up to 1 Million XAF which is mine before this. I’m not fully recovered from the shock to be honest. It still feels surreal. A few hours after I realised this was real and not a dream, it started dawning on me that my life was taking a new turn.

You had to see me break the news to my wife. We’ve never been millionaires, let alone multimillionaires. It’s still very overwhelming even now. No amount of preparation can make one ready to receive exceedingly fantastic news. Bad news doesn’t hit the high notes this much and, trust me, we’re well accustomed to bad news.

I will do what I have always dreamt of: owning my own business. I will buy a taxi, maybe 2 even. It goes without saying that my family and I will have a much more comfortable life.

I will be hands-on with the supervision of the investments I make to ensure thorough and durable sustainability. I have always wanted to do something for the people of my region. I aspire to own several taxis in the west and, in doing so, help the families there.
